Greetings From Your President

Hey Everyone,

Hope you're enjoying the warm summer weather-it's been just about perfect
for getting outside. That said, we could still use a bit more rain. The
hills are starting to dry out again, so let's hope for a good soaker soon.

I was able to draw my West River deer tag-about time! Always feels good to
have something locked in for fall. What about the rest of you? West River?
East River? Black Hills? Let us know what you pulled and what your plans
are.

We had a great community effort this past month-the Black Hills Sportsmen
Club teamed up with the Black Hills Fly Fishers for a creek cleanup project.
We had a solid turnout and covered a lot of ground, hauling out trash and
giving the area a much-needed refresh. Big thanks to everyone who showed up
and put in the work. It's efforts like this that really showcase what our
outdoor community is all about.

I have had time to get out on the water but have been hearing some great
reports. How have you been doing? Walleyes?

The Custer State Park Management Plan Stakeholder Group will be having our
second meeting in July. This group is tasked with evaluating and providing
input on the long-term management strategies for the park-everything from
wildlife and habitat to recreation and public access. These types of
planning efforts have a real impact on how we use and enjoy the Park. We'll
be keeping tabs on it, and if you've got strong thoughts or experiences to
share, make sure your voice is heard when the public input period opens up.

If you haven't renewed your membership yet, now's the time. It's quick and
easy at https://blackhillssportsmenclub.com, and it helps us keep advocating
for the things that matter most to hunters and anglers in our region. Bring
a friend along, too-strong membership means a stronger voice.

Enjoy the rest of summer, and we'll see you at the next luncheon.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR NEW INPUT FROM OUR MEMBERS!!

Thanks to Cody and all those who helped with the stream clean up and BBQ.   Sounds like it was a big success.
Great program on the new shooting range last month   Wow, there will be some cool things to play with out there...
This month we have the GFP fisheries guys coming to speak.   They have been spending a lot of the fish habitat stamp dollars among other great projects we will hear about.
Rapid City approved spending on some stream projects on Rapid Creek and there is big project starting up in Pactola Basin not to mention all the BDA and new fisheries that are being created.   Please attend, they have lot so brag about.
