February  2026
 Memberships Due!!

Please pay online!
COME ON PEOPLE, we have had only 3 renewals so far.  We, the sportsmen of SD, need your support!

Greetings From Your President
Hey Everyone,

Hope you're all doing well and getting a little time outside. We've had a
mix of weather lately - enough mild days to get out and look around, and
just enough moisture to keep us hopeful. It would still be nice to see a bit
more moisture. This last cold snap was a good reminder that we still do have
winters here in South Dakota!

With the seasons shifting, it's been good hearing from some of you about
what you've been up to - whether you've been out chasing predators, scouting
for spring, or just getting outside to shake off the winter. If you've been
out fishing lately, send in your reports. Did the latest cold snap freeze up
your honey hole?

On the GFP side, there are a few things worth keeping an eye on. They
continue moving forward with updates to management plans and ongoing
discussions around wildlife, access, and habitat work statewide. As always,
these decisions affect all of us, so if you've got opinions or want to stay
informed, keep an eye on their public updates and meetings.

The legislative session is in full swing. The SDWF and the BHSC are
currently monitoring the active bills being brought forth.

If you haven't renewed your membership yet, now's a good time. It only takes
a minute at https://blackhillssportsmenclub.com,
and every renewal helps keep our club active, involved, and heard. Bring a
friend while you're at it - we grow stronger with every new member.

That's all for now. Stay warm, stay safe, and we'll see you at the next
luncheon.

A big thanks to Helene Duhamel, Steve Duffy, Tim Goodwin and Nicloe Uhre-Balk for attending our last meeting.  The session is in full swing and currently we have 17 bills we are watching.  Things always change fast in Pierre so who knows what will be the situation when we have our meeting next month but I assure you , we will have some things to talk about.   The only bill I would like to mention now is HB 1122.  This is the fishing guide bill.  $150 bucks to get licensed and funds go to stocking efforts.  Seems like a no brainer but I am certain it faces big hurdles.

We will hold elections and review our budget quickly and then we will have a timely speaker.  Jaqualine Sly will present on how to address legislators and commissioners  (lobby)  productively..

We have put a lot of time into the web page also. If anyone has input or would like us to add to our webpage please email us at blackhillssportsmenclub@gmail.com
