Greetings From Your President
The fall leaves are rolling in, I spent the week working up in spearfish and the drive has been fantastic. There is nothing quite like warm afternoons and cool evenings coupled with beautiful scenery. It was nice to get to see several of you at Mr. Olson’s BBQ. Jeff made up some great food and we thank him for the hospitality.
Rifle Elk and Pheasant season openers kick off this month. Anyone have any eyes or ears on the pheasant reports? I’ve been getting mixed reviews based on locations some say great some say bad. As always I am willing to take anyone up on some pheasant hunting opportunities if you happen to need any hunters..
We were glad to hear that the GFP Commission decided against allowing for the spearfishing of trout in the Black Hills. The Club sided as we felt there are already plenty of other spearfishing opportunities in the state. Thank you to all of you who wrote in your comments.
Look forward to see you all at the monthly luncheon

We have a great program this month. Trenton Haffley, big game biologist with the SD GFP will be speaking about deer. Trenton has quietly created a great bow hunting season in Rapid City. I have had the pleasure of hunting two seasons with this tag. Come and hear about the success of this program.
The department also has started its review of the deer draw system. It has been in place for four years of what was supposed to be a three year trial. This will be a huge discussion yet again. It appears I will not be happy (if I ever am) In my opinion, this did not help the avid deer hunter and it appears it will limit access to the avid deer hunter even further. We will be active yet again on the input. Cody and Dana have already attended one meeting and there will be lots of chance to comment
A big reminder.....the big guy, Kevin Robling will be with us Nov 7th!!!
