Greetings From Your President

Send us your hunting Pictures. We need to spice up the photos section.

Happy New Year!! I hope everyone had a great holidays with great family and good food? I had a very lowkey Holidays which is right where I like it.. Spent most of it indoors at least until the cold snap was gone. Did the cold keep you in?

Its that time of year when we need to ask for a few members to join the board and help us make some decisions. There is no doubt that this year will be busy with very important topics and issues impacting the sportsmen and women here in South Dakota. The legislative rumblings are already starting to emerge and the GFP commission has some important issues on the table. We need to be there to allow for the Sportsman’s voice to heard. We lost a few board members last year who relocated out of state and so we have a few spots to fill. This is a extremely small time commitment and I encourage anyone to step up and join the board.

January is also Dues time! Please jump onto the website https://blackhillssportsmenclub.com/ and renew, also don’t forget to sign up your Friends and Family! What a great gift!!

Jeff talks about it below but reminder that Kevin Robling GFP Secretary will be at the Jan 3rd Luncheon meeting. See you all there.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR NEW INPUT FROM OUR MEMBERS!!

---
I am excited to announce that the Sec of the Game Fish and Parks, Kevin Robling will be attending our Jan meeting. We are lucky to have him address our club annually. Two big topics will be the fish kill in Rapid Creek and the GFP proposal to allow unlimited non-resident archery tags on private land, they did propose to limit non-res tags on public land. While this is start in the right direction. Our club believes that unlimited tags are not a great way to manage the resource. Dana Rogers spoke to this topic at our last meeting. The South Dakota Bow Hunters will attempt a better compromise on this proposal most likely.   Our club will have an official position on this for the next commission meeting. If you have any thoughts on this, please come to our meeting. I realize most can not attend our lunch meetings, however your input is important so please contact a board member with any view you may have. While these are the two big issues, I am certain Kevin will be willing to talk about any issue. We need to show power in numbers so please attend.
