WE ARE LOOKING FOR NEW INPUT FROM OUR MEMBERS!!

---
We are very excited to have out newest GFP commission at our meeting this month. I have been working on getting Travis Theel to come and speak to our club for years.

He has a great program where he collects sheds, sells them and then donates funds for conservation and kids programs. I am certain some of us as seen some of his videos. He is an avid sportsmen and it is a bonus that he is now our representative on the commission. His dad, Doug, has been a long time member of the club.

Non-resident waterfowl
This is a VERY big issue that the commission will be voting on for finalization this month. PLEASE get your comments in. The non-resident permits will be the most proposed since WWII. For those who may not know the history, when our boys were overseas, non-residents leased up most all of the good duck hunting ground. The results was very few places to hunt for the resident hunter. The results was the birth of the South Dakota Wildlife Federation. After long fought battles, the balance came back where resident and not residents had equal access. That pendulum has now swung back to favor non-residents (commercialization) and continues to go the wrong way for SD residents. It is very hard to understand  why this is happening while adjacent states and Canada are restricting non-residents if favor of their residents. This trend appears not to only affect waterfowl hunters but big game hunting also. The GFP needs to hear from us early and often.

The good news is we have a new director of the SDWF. Dana Rogers, a club member, will get this group back up to speed and will be a very strong voice for South Dakota sportsmen.
