The Newsletter of the Black Hills Sportsmen and Sportswomen
Mission Statement: To promote the conservation, sound management, and sustainable use of wildlife and wildlife habitat and to protect the privilege of sportsmen to hunt and fish through advocacy and education.

Greetings From Your President
I hope everyone has been able to get out and enjoy some of this great fall weather we have been having. I was grouse hunting in a T-Shirt last weekend.. Well that explains all the missing that was going on.. yea I'm just used to shooting in a long sleeve shirt I think that was the problem.
Once again October is here and I won't be Elk Hunting.. I hope all you lucky people have a great Hunt! Should be a great season. Please get us pictures! We want to get them in the newsletter.

Resident Pheasant opener is on October 10th - I hope to see you all out there.

Will be great to see everyone at the BBQ Tomorrow! Jeff has all the details below.
Thank you

Current News

As I am writing this, Rapid City has had another record day of COVID-19 cases.  I want the club to know that the board has still been very active in all of the issues that affect us.  Terry M.,  Jerry Hirschoff, and I attended an elk working group meeting for most of the day yesterday.   I met with a legislator this week on the issues as well.   Being a strong voice will not change with these strange times.   That being said, we will not be holding any indoor meetings or programs for the rest of this year.   The board will continue to meet once a month on Zoom.  Please reach out to a board member with any issues or concerns.   We will continue with the monthly newsletter and please contact me with anything you may have for the newsletter.   We want to see the fall harvest pics.

Our picnic was postponed due to weather earlier this month and the weather is looking very good for the new date.   We will be cooking some hot dogs and brats at picnic shelter number one in Canyon lake park.     5:30 to 7pm Sept. 29th.   We will have sides and desserts also, who can down a free meal.  Please remember to be COVID safe and I look forward to see you next week.   Don't forget to bring a guest!

- Quote of the Month -
“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what I had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived."

-Henry David Thoreau
