Greetings From Your President

Well? How's the hunting been? Birds? Elk? Deer? Any big ones? I've heard
several mixed reviews regarding the bird hunting from several parts of the
state. I have yet to personally take a rooster this year but it's not for a
lack of effort. The grouse chasing has actually been pretty successful for
me on a few occasions. Seems to be the further north you go the better the
results but you didn't hear that from me.

Where is all the big elk pictures? Please end them in we want to see them!

I hope everyone will be able to get out and do some hunting in the next few
weeks the weather has been cooperating so I don't want to hear any excuses.
Several reports of dead deer from several people. Hopefully everyone has a
successful season.

We are having our luncheon this month and I hope to see everyone there. We
understand that not everyone will be able to make it for lots of reasons but
if you want to send me your 50/50 or Lunch money I'd be happy to make sure
its put to good use!

Send us your hunting Pictures. We need to spice up the photos section.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR NEW INPUT FROM OUR MEMBERS!!

---

We are going to give our monthly meetings a try yet again. Lacy Elrod, director of the Outdoor Campus, and her staff will be coming to visit with us about the newest, greatest things happening at the campus.  It has been a very long time since we have heard from our friends out there. It is time to get active with this great project yet again. I am certain we will hear about many volunteer opportunities so please attend the meeting for great food and stories. We may have to listen to Paul V but we do not have to believe his stories.

Pheasant season is in full swing and looking to hear some reports.

Black Hill deer opens Nov. 1
West River deer opens Nov. 13.

Please remember to get your deer tested for CWD if you are in the hot spot areas. You can go to the GFP web page to get the info on where these areas are and how to test them. It is quite easy. I removed the lymph nodes with ease on my mentees deer this weekend.
I personally test all the deer that are harvested with the hunts I am part of. I remove the lymph nodes, down load the form of the GFP web page and take them to the GFP office. They send them in for testing and then you will get a notice on your license page on the web site.

- Quote of the Month -

" We need the tonic of wildness...At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things, we require that all things be mysterious and unexplorable, that land and sea be indefinitely wild, surveyed and unfathomed by us because unfathomable. We can never have enough of nature.”

― Henry David Thoreau
